Energetic and expressive are the traditional Garifuna rhythms which include Wanaragua, Punta, Hungu, Chumba. Drums and percussion instruments will be provided.
Hungu hungu - a slow spiritual dance from the Dugu ritual
Chumba - this expressive dance shows the daily life work for example washing by the river, fishing or baking bread
Punta - the most popular dance in Belize. Danced by couples men and women trying to approach each other with tempting hip movements.
Wanaragua - also known as Jankunu is a masked dance performed by men in Belize during Christmas time in the Garifuna communities. The dancers are dressed with kneerattles made out of seashells and fanciful crowns with long parrotfeathers.
